We Take Your Studies

to a different level

A practical research expedition into the heart of post-genocide transformation — exploring memory, leadership, and the power of community in Rwanda.

Why does this expedition exist?

This expedition was born from a desire to do more than observe the world — to be part of it.
It was created for those ready to leave behind the predictable and step into a journey of
emotion, purpose, and global learning.
We chose Rwanda not only for its beauty, but because it carries a powerful story of resilience,
memory, and renewal.

“This journey opened my eyes and changed the way I see community, power and leadership.”

Who is this expedition meant for?

For students

For those pursuing degrees in international relations, human rights, or political science and seeking a career path with the UN, NGOs, or global institutions.

For professionals

Working in development, nonprofits, or diplomacy and looking to expand their field experience through practical, on-the-ground learning..

For individuals

For the curious and open-hearted — those ready to step away from the noise of daily life and into a journey of real people, raw stories, and the quiet strength of communities rebuilding with dignity.

Why do people join this expedition?

On this humanitarian expedition, you’ll go where most visitors never do. You’ll walk through remote villages, sit with women who live near the volcanoes, and learn how they cook, raise their kids, and live daily life with dignity. You’ll try national food, dance with locals, play football with village kids, and witness the heartbeat of rural Rwanda. You’ll visit primary schools, talk with children, observe how education functions in underserved areas, and meet with local NGOs to see how aid and partnerships work on the ground.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What happens after I submit the registration form?

Within 1–2 business days, our team will contact you to schedule a Zoom conversation. After the call, if both sides are aligned, you’ll receive a participation agreement and a link to submit your $250 deposit to confirm your spot.

What makes this a “Research Expedition”? What kind of research will we be doing?

This is not a typical volunteer trip. This is a field-based educational and humanitarian research expedition designed to immerse participants in real-world issues. Throughout the journey, you’ll engage in active observation, dialogue, and analysis to better understand how communities recover from historical trauma, rebuild local systems, and create sustainable futures.

Your research may include:

  • Talking with community members, educators, and local leaders to gather stories of recovery and resilience

  • Observing how local education, food security, and women-led initiatives function on the ground

  • Participating in hands-on support projects and analyzing their impact

  • Visiting institutions, NGOs, and government sites to understand development strategies

  • Reflecting on post-genocide memory and justice in Rwanda

Whether you’re a student, educator, changemaker, or simply curious — this expedition invites you to ask questions, document what you see, and connect local realities with global systems. Many participants turn their experience into academic presentations, advocacy projects, or personal missions.

How physically demanding is the expedition?

The expedition involves a moderate level of physical activity. You’ll walk through villages, engage in hands-on community projects, explore rural schools, and play sports like football or volleyball with local youth. Days are active but meaningful, designed for participants who enjoy movement, learning, and discovery.

Additionally, if you’re interested in visiting Volcanoes National Park (home to mountain gorillas), or going on a safari in Akagera National Park, we can help arrange discounted excursions through our local partners — just let us know in advance.

What is the payment breakdown for the $1,750 program fee?

Registration Deadline: December 1, 2025
We will accept registrations until this date or until all 15 spots are filled, whichever comes first.

Important Note on Payments

The full program fee of $1,750 goes directly toward making this expedition possible, covering accommodation, meals, transport, staff, and support for schools and families we work with in Rwanda.

To confirm your participation, a $250 non-refundable deposit* is required.
The remaining $1,500 must be paid in full by December 1, 2025.

Refund Policy

– If your full payment is completed before November 15, you may request a partial refund of the $1,500 balance (excluding the $250 deposit) in case of cancellation.
– If you complete your payment after November 15, no refunds are possible under any circumstances, as local travel, housing, and staff arrangements will already be secured.

Please note: Flight tickets, visa, and personal expenses are not included in the program cost.

*The $250 deposit confirms your spot and allows us to begin all the on-the-ground coordination for your arrival. This includes reserving your space in housing, local arrangements, and early program preparation. The deposit is non-refundable because it directly supports logistical work that begins as soon as you’re accepted.

Will I need a passport or visa to travel?

Yes, all participants must have a valid passport. If selected, we will guide you through the visa application process, if necessary. Rwanda offers visa-on-arrival for U.S. citizens, but you must have a valid passport with at least six months’ validity.
