Seeds of Strength

Women’s Sustainable Livelihood Project in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda

Children in Nakivale

Nakivale Refugee Settlement is home to over 180,000 people who have fled instability and conflict. Seeds of Strength empowers women to rebuild their lives through sustainable farming, education, and entrepreneurship — transforming humanitarian aid into long-term independence.

The Challenge

Most women in Nakivale are heads of households, raising children with limited income and little access to education or jobs.
Humanitarian aid often covers immediate needs, but rarely creates pathways to self-reliance.

“We don’t only need food — we need a way to build our lives again.”

Our Mission

TThe Seeds of Strength initiative provides hands-on training in poultry farming, seed cultivation, and small-scale enterprise.

Through these programs, women earn sustainable income, feed their families, and restore dignity to their daily lives.

Long-Term Vision

In 2026, the program will expand to include more women in Nakivale and beyond, forming women-led cooperatives focused on shared savings, sustainable production, and trade opportunities.

This is how humanitarian relief evolves into human development.
