Nakivale is one of East Africa’s oldest and largest refugee settlements. Children grow up with limited
access to learning and play. Time2Joy is a continuous initiative that creates safe spaces for learning,
creativity, and sport—and equips schools and youth clubs with durable tools so progress continues every day.
Most children in Nakivale Refugee Settlement grow up with limited access to education, safe play, and creative spaces.
Many schools lack even the most basic materials, while teachers strive to inspire hope with very few resources.
Time2Joy was born from the idea that every child deserves joy, imagination, and the chance to learn through play.
The Time2Joy initiative brings together education and play — creating child-friendly spaces that combine
learning, creativity, and sports.
Through games, art sessions, and community storytelling, we help children regain confidence, curiosity, and hope for the future.
Time2Joy is designed to last. We work closely with local teachers and youth leaders to ensure that
activities continue even after our team leaves.
Our vision is to build permanent learning and recreation corners across Nakivale — where education,
joy, and growth can flourish every single day.
