On April 21st, 2025, Nation Voice Foundation participated in a focused United Nations dialogue hosted by the Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (WGEPAD) at UN Headquarters in New York. This closed session convened a select group of civil society organizations actively engaged in advancing equity, dignity, and justice for communities of African descent across the globe.
Representing the Foundation, President and CEO Victoria Martino took part in strategic discussions aimed at reinforcing collaboration between civil society and the UN Working Group, within the framework of the Second International Decade for People of African Descent.
Drawing on the Foundation’s grassroots experience and global orientation, Victoria Martino outlined Nation Voice Foundation’s evolving strategy, grounded in education, research, and community-building. The following key initiatives were presented:
-
International Youth Engagement through Academic Fieldwork: Nation Voice Foundation is organizing a Humanitarian Research Expedition to Rwanda, bringing U.S.-based students into direct academic and intercultural exchange with local communities. The program promotes research in political systems, historical reconciliation, and education development, while encouraging students to explore modern African realities beyond stereotypes.
-
Community Investment in East Africa: The Foundation continues to strengthen its partnerships with schools, libraries, and youth-focused organizations across Rwanda—offering support in areas such as educational infrastructure, digital access, and sports programs as tools for empowerment.
-
Bridge-Building Between Continents: A core element of the Nation Voice Foundation’s mission is to facilitate sustained engagement between African and American youth. Through scholarship, mobility, and dialogue, the Foundation promotes a narrative of shared knowledge, leadership development, and long-term collaboration.
Through its participation, Nation Voice Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to tangible, youth-centered, and community-driven approaches that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly those related to quality education, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for global advancement.
